Our Story
A small group of us meet a few mornings a week at the Break Espresso, a local coffee shop in the funky town of Missoula, Montana. We call it old man coffee even though none of us are over twenty eight. Our group is unique, a bunch of strays unwilling to conform to the eight to five work day. Doug and Owen are young entrepreneurs without definitive schedules and Matt has a job that allows him to be on call most of the time. Our conversations are inspired by the old men who regularly meet at the tables next to us. Each one of these men have seen more than our table put together. They tell stories of the depression and of world wars, while we tell stories of last nights bike ride or a weekend fling. But there are similarities between our tables that have no age boundaries. Some of these old men look like their end is near yet we hear them planning a grand trip to an Arizona golf course or booking tickets to cross the pond and visit some destination that has been on the to do list for fifty years. What is it about a group of friends, a stiff cup of joe and a cozy round table in a local coffee shop that creates such a fertile environment for ideas to originate? Most everything we do starts with a crazy idea at old man coffee. So this blog is born. Our goal as we take off on our winter travels will be to review coffee shops and those adventures spawned within them. This means nothing is out of question on this site. We are rough around the edges and not highly educated, our experience is minimal but our zest for life and good coffee are unstoppable. We hope you enjoy the ride!
